This conference provided a timely opportunity to assess priorities for regulating health and social care.
Delegates considered progress by Monitor, NHS Trust Development Authority, CQC, GMC and other regulators in supporting service delivery, and next steps for ensuring the health and social care system operates in the best interests of patients.
There was also discussion on improving patient safety following publication of the independent Freedom to Speak Up review, which recommended the appointment of whistleblowing guardians in every hospital to support staff and report concerns.
Further sessions focused on removing barriers to enable integrated care and CQC's new model for inspection.
