Westminster Social Policy Forum

Next steps for regional development, local devolution deals and the role of mayors

Thursday, 22nd June 2017

Central London

With the Government’s Industrial Strategy outlining commitments to drive economic growth across the country, this seminar will be an opportunity to consider next steps for regional development and local devolution deals.

Attendees will discuss the accountability of mayors for local growth funding and expanding local infrastructure projects, with seven combined authorities in Liverpool, Manchester, Peterborough & Cambridgeshire, Sheffield, Tees Valley, West of England and West Midlands due to elect metro mayors in May 2017.

Further planned sessions focus on how best to support the retention and development of a highly skilled workforce, the developing role of Enterprise Zones in attracting investment, and challenges facing devolution after exiting the EU, including funding for regional projects beyond 2020.
