Next steps for improving diversity in UK screen industries

Morning, Wednesday, 22nd November 2017

Central London

THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED

This timely seminar will assess next steps for industry practice and for policy in improving diversity in the UK screen industries - both on and off screen.

It will be an opportunity to consider Ofcom’s 2017 Diversity in Broadcasting report and the BBC’s new operating license, which is expected to contain diversity provisions.

Delegates will discuss latest thinking on how to address key structural barriers to entry and progression in the sector, taking into account the education system, skills development, careers advice, recruitment and employment practices, and workplace culture.

They will also assess how bodies within the sector might work more effectively together and with other sectors to implement standards and policies - as well as options for policy and regulation.

Further sessions will consider the business case for diversity - including examining economic and competitive advantages and tapping into audience demands - and consider the practical challenges in the development of inclusive business models and a diverse workforce.
