This timely seminar will assess the next steps that can be taken by industry and policymakers to improve diversity in the UK screen industries - both on and off screen.
It will be an opportunity to consider Ofcom’s recently published Diversity and Equal Opportunities in TV report, which highlighted a lack of representation and diversity monitoring in the sector, as well as the BBC’s new operating licence, which sets out diversity requirements.
Delegates will discuss latest thinking on how to address key structural barriers to entry and progression in the sector, taking into account education and careers guidance, skills development, recruitment and employment practices, and workplace culture.
Following the Government’s recently published Race Disparity Audit which has highlighted inequalities in schools and workplaces, they will also assess how bodies within and outside the sector might collaborate more effectively to establish common standards, targets and monitoring processes - as well as further options for policy and regulation.
