Key issues for the UK construction industry - skills, innovation, and the Industrial Strategy

Morning, Tuesday, 12th December 2017

Central London

THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED

Bringing together policymakers with industry stakeholders, this conference will focus on key issues for the UK construction industry.

It is timed to consider policy priorities, including how the Industrial Strategy can best support sector growth - and the viability of initiatives proposed in the Housing White Paper - such as the Accelerated Construction Programme, the Home Building Fund and new incentives for modular construction.

Delegates will also discuss next steps for addressing skills and workforce gaps, following the Government’s response to the Farmer Review, which includes proposals to incentivise innovation and skills training, and the review of the effectiveness of the Construction Industrial Training Boards, which is expected to be published in Autumn 2017.

Further sessions will focus on key challenges and opportunities ahead for sector growth and competitiveness - looking at issues around procurement and financing of major projects, priorities for increasing housing supply and driving innovation across the sector, as well as the sector’s priorities for the forthcoming Brexit negotiations.
